March 9, 2007 (Chicago, IL) – Author Joyce E. Guccione met with representatives of the ALA (American Library Association) to pledge on-going support to the ALA Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund She has agreed to contribute a generous portion of the royalties from her books The Greater Adventures of Humpty Dumpty and its’ “mother book,” The Power of Choice, as a part of a philanthropic movement entitled CPR (Choices Providing Relief). The funds are to be used to restore the libraries devastated by Hurricane Katrina.
Joyce has earned recognition as a financial consultant by lifting people up to higher standards. She firmly believes that “libraries serve a tremendous need in our society” and that “in order for resurgence and renewal to flourish after any kind of devastation, we must encourage enlightenment.” Her motto, "Let there be Light” emulates the motto of Andrew Carnegie who was known for funding over 2,500 libraries from 1883 to 1929 and is often fondly called the Patron Saint of Libraries. She further hopes to emulate Carnegie’s generosity by her pledge to contribute a full ten percent of direct purchase price of each book purchased at www.CPR4libraries.com to help rebuild libraries in the Gulf Region. All funds will go to the ALA Fund which will then disperse the funds purely and directly to the state library association in the region.
The books are a perfect fit for the renewal and resurgence theme. The Power of Choice begins with the untold story of The Greater Adventures of Humpty Dumpty, a simple yet profound illustration for people of all ages. It shows us that the secret to a better life lies in the Choices that we make. It then goes on to provide some Encouraging Words in a collection of quotations from hundreds of voices heard throughout the ages in a virtual litany of empowering quotations which can have a powerful effect upon those who take the time to read it. Finally, The Power of Choice shows how to exercise our choices by Picking up the Best and Leaving all the Rest. It promises to be a life changing experience! The Greater Adventures of Humpty Dumpty is an interactive children’s version of the story where the child is encouraged to make the book their own by adding the colors of their world.
